Apparently I have no shame on this blog. I’ve already put myself out there with my duct tape dress form. Now I’m going to share the experience I had with the gals from Essential Bodywear. I was curious as to why Bra Ladies were at the Kansas City Original Sewing and Quilt Expo. But then I started to get curious if those bras could contain my ample bosom. It’s difficult to find a well fitting bra no matter what size you are! I decided to go through the process and document it for all my blog readers to see. I may regret this.

Step 1: get measured. This wasn’t as bad as I make it appear in the picture.

See? No big deal.

Step 2: Place the stickers in the, um, spot. You know.

Step 3: Is this one big enough? Believe it or not, that one was too big! Oh, the poor woman that can fill that one up. I went into a little cabana and tried on two bras.

Step 4: Where are the stickers now? Oooh. Much better. Can you tell I was “lifted” a couple of inches? Success.
These ladies have a great concept going on here. They described the company as Tupperware for Boobs. Basically, they are a direct sales company and have “bra parties”. A representative comes to your home and helps you choose properly fitting undergarments.

I couldn’t stop looking in the mirror and I didn’t want to take it off. It felt great. Apparently, the design is such that it takes the load off of the shoulders and distributes it along the back. I bought two.
There aren’t too many Essential Bodywear reps out there so if you don’t have one near you, maybe you might want to become one yourself? You can find all the information on that at their site.
Having a good fitting bra makes a big difference in how your clothes fit. I may just have to re-do my duct tape dress form once I get them! Anyone care to share their bra habits? How many do you own? Are they all the same style? Does it fit properly or could you use a little professional help?

As someone who has been a nursing mom for most of her adult life, and now as the mom of an adolescent girl; I think it is very important to get a proper fit and to remember that we change shape throughout our lives and should be measured for our bras more than once or twice in our lifetimes. (You know there’s no one in the OKC metro who does this-we always get everything 2-3 years after everyone else.)
Oh Christy, you have done many gals a favor…. It is important to have the girls in the up and up for posture sake!! Since the birth of my babies some 13 years ago I have not been able to find a bra that fits well, some come close but bra shopping doesn’t cut in my top 10 and the ” secrets” just don’t cut it…..Thanks for the Bra Party idea! I’ll have to check it out!
Oh my goodness, what a difference! I need them! I am looking them up right now to see if anyone is near me. Maybe I will have a bra party!!!
Christy you look maaavelous! You amaze me. Enjoy your new bras!
I love that first picture of you! Congrats on the enjoyment of your new bras!
Nice! The first picture of you is priceless. Love it.
Wow! Look at that lift! I’m impressed!
Woohoo!
Wow, those bras are impressive!!! I think you should have bra party. I am always looking for a good bra, the “perfect” bra that I used to wear doesn’t go big enough to fit me now and having to order them to get the size I need is a pain, then if they don’t fit there’s the return process, ugh!
Were they expensive? and will you be hand washing your new bras?
Awesome!! Wow that really makes a difference. Yay for great bras!

Wow!! What a difference. I love the stickers so you can actually see a difference. I just went to a fancy shmancy bra store and got fitted. I bought a couple bras and spent a small fortune. I’m curious what the average price of their bras are?
Ok, if you EVER have one of those parties, I WILL NEED TO BE INVITED. I love it! Every time I go bra shopping I make sure to get fitted. You never know what changes ‘there’. I lost 20 lbs. and everything changed! You’ll find out……awesome.
Please tell me they gave you a discount on your bras. My chin about hit the floor when I saw the prices.
Hmmm… I totally want to do something like this after I finish nursing Cole. Although I have the total opposite of ample bosoms, I still have problems finding bras that fit. Which makes me wonder – who the heck are making all the bras you find in the store? People without chests, apparently. Why can no one seem to find what they need? I hate shopping for bras mainly because I get frustrated at not finding what I need.
Hi Ladies, I am the bra reprentative in Kansas. I think I am the only active one but I’m not sure of that. I live in the Wichita area and if you are fairly close, give me a shout. My email is above. I look forward to helping you with your bra issues.
Yours in support.
