I am so in the market for new place mats.  We recently purchased a new dining room set and I want to keep it looking nice for as long as possible.

I have a tablecloth but the kids are prone to hanging on it and then the whole dinner comes tumbling down.  I'm pretty sure I'd like to make my own place mats but I went searching on Etsy for some inspiration and ideas.  There are so many great things to see!

Some of these match my home perfectly.  Some are just really, really cool.  Did you  notice the paper pop up one?  Others would be great for every day.  Is it possible to have too many place mats?

Which ones are your favorites?

I like the idea of having something reversible, so those are my favorite. I also remember making placemats out of construction paper in preschool that had a place setting on them so we could learn how to properly set a table. It might be kind of fun to make an “adult” version out of cloth of some sort.

I like the reversible ones also. How clever to have a pocket for the silverware!
