The Smartest Irons Ever

While at the sewing expo, I went by two vendor booths that were promoting irons.  They were the smartest irons I’ve ever seen.  They were also some of the most expensive.  But, the features were top notch and when you’re ironing a lot (sewing, quilting, etc…), it is worth having a great iron.

Here are a few videos I took at their booths.  The first one is for the Oliso Pro Iron.  I love the cool lifters and the automatic sensors.

The other iron is called the Euro Steam. They sell primarily at trade shows and expos like the one in Kansas City so they aren’t as easy to find online. You’ll have to check out the video to see the demonstrator iron a balloon.

What kind of iron do you use? Would you recommend it? I could really use a new iron but I don’t know that I’m ready to plunk down a hefty chunk of change for one. Know what I mean?

  • Getting a “professional” iron took my sewing from ” oooooh, you MADE that” to “Wow, did you really make that” .
I have a Rowenta Powerglide and my cats have knocked it off the ironing board on to the floor(hard wood) at least a 100 times and it still works great, so yes, I would recommend it!

I’m with Crafterella. A good iron makes a *world* of difference! I have a Rowenta Professional iron. Love, love, love it! Bought it more than two years ago and use it a *lot* — works beautifully, has a great weight to it, just *feels* better than the old Black & Decker we used to have (nothing wrong w/ B&D, just sayin’).

I have often recommended mine, and always suggest that even if a person doesn’t want to spend $100 (yes, really), then get the best iron they can for the price they are willing to spend. Oh, and keep your eyes open….I bought one a few months ago at the thrift store for less than $10. It’s my backup!

I just replaced mine with a lower end Rowenta. It’s too soon to tell if I *love* it…I mean, it is still ironing after all. But it’s most definitely an improvement over my POS Sunbeam. So far, I am really groovin’ on the retractable cord.

I’m with Crafterella and Kelly. My steam Rowenta changed my crafty life, especially when I work with felted sweaters.

My husband uses it, too. He presses his own shirts now, so we actually save money!
