Last month I wrote about the French Press Felted Slipper pattern that I knew I had to make. It is the kind of pattern that is quick enough to knit but isn’t something you can just knit without thinking. The pattern needs to be followed and it isn’t one that can be memorized easily. For this reason, I had to knit this project over a few nights. The total time spent knitting was probably just over 90 minutes. The seaming took another 60 minutes. The felting took another 30 minutes plus drying time.

I’m super pleased with the finished product. Here are the details:
Yarn: Plymouth Galway–I used a good portion of 2 skeins. Because most of it is knit using 2 strands, I just pulled from two full skeins. I probably have enough left to make at least one more pair out of those skeins.
Felt Flowers from Stampin’ Up–I didn’t have any cute buttons to use on hand and remembered that I have these little flower embellishments. They are perfect!

Grippies–star shaped “Grippies” provide a non-slip surface on the bottom of the slippers. I won these during a twitter party last year but this is the first time I’ve used them. You just iron them on and they are machine washable. Easy and clever. If I didn’t have these, I would have used some puff paint on the bottom.
Pattern notes–the pattern was well written but the pictures showing how to seam them up weren’t that clear. Because I had made something similar before, I had an idea of how to do it. But, if you’re a beginning knitter, you might have a bit of a problem with the finishing instructions.
My main motivation for making these slippers was to have something cute to wear while I recover from surgery. I got my gallbladder out last week and I spent the night in the hospital. These slippers were the talk of the floor. All the nurses kept coming in to look at them! They couldn’t believe I made them myself. And that is exactly why I love to make things myself!

How do I get the pattern for these cute french press felted slippers.
I have a friend that had a stroke and cannot get shoes on and I would like to make a pair for her. Thanks
I was looking for a tutorial video on how to felt for a pair of slippers I was making, and found your video. Must say, well made! Instructions are clear and concise. As I was looking closer, I noticed the slippers you were felting looked familiar… it’s the SAME PAIR I’m making! Just finished felting them today and waiting for them to dry before finishing assembly. They are turning out soooooo nicely! I was really pleased to see yours turned out so well!
