One of the big announcements at CHA this winter was the Cricut Cake.  It will be in stores on May 1st but we've had the chance to get a sneak peak at it here at the show.  Tonight I went to the launch party and it. was. awesome.

We heard from the president of the company and he spoke about how they are looking to move into different areas and this new Cricut is just the beginning.  He mentioned that there are FIVE different applications of the Cricut that they are working on at the moment.  Please, let there be a Cricut Quilt.  How awesome would that be?

They then had a good ol' cake walk.  My number was drawn from a bag so I got to go up and participate.  I didn't win the whole thing, but I did get a good consolation prize.  It was a gift basket full of goodies from Williams Sonoma.

We ate some great cupcakes and cookies.  They were beautiful and delicious.  Here is a cake that we weren't allowed to eat.

Once the main festivities were over, it was announced that all the attendees would each receive a Cricut Cake and a box full of goodies (including a new cartridge, a book, and a chef hat).  It was a pretty amazing night.

To top it off, we boogied with Mark Montano.  He was decked out in one pretty amazing outfit.  I wish I had taken a picture of his shoes!

So, what did you do today?

Linda Mcclure is the person who originated the idea to use the cricut to cut fondant. Her website is here: http://creativedesignscakes.com/
She’s been doing this since Nov. of 2008. She’s come up with some pretty amazing designs, and I have loved using my cricut to cut gumpaste thanks to HER. I bought her DVD a long time ago and have not looked at cake decorating the same way since.
LOVE HER and I am so glad she came up with this idea…FYI the cricut cake is going to be $400!
