Christy, just wondering if you’d be interested in covering the event I am helping to produce, Craftacular 2011, on your blog. It seems like a good subject matter fit. I can send you a press release and more info if you are interested; just trying to get the word out! The event isn’t until November but maybe you could blog about it in October or something like that?

Good morning! I just wanted to let you know about the new handmade goods website that a couple of other recent UNL grads and I launched, especially because you are a prominent Lincoln crafter in the blogosphere.
Joyful Oyster is essentially a mix between Etsy and Craigslist, because it’s a completely local-focused marketplace for handmade goods. We originally came up with the idea because we were making some large, impossible-to-ship home accents, and we found out that there wasn’t a good way to sell them online. Although Joyful Oyster was created with large and fragile items in mind, smaller items can be sold as well.
With Joyful Oyster, the seller has the option to choose whether she wants to offer her items for shipment, for pickup, or both. The items are then marketed on a city-specific page. And, unlike other sites, there are no shop or listing fees on Joyful Oyster; the seller simply pays a 3% commission when an item sells.
We’re a small company with a small (read: almost non-existent) marketing budget, but we think we have a good idea and we think others will rally around the local aspect of our site. Please check it out and let me know what you think! And, if you would like to help spread the word, I have some business cards I could send you to distribute.
Thanks very much for your time today – I hope to speak with you soon!
