Technically, I did not finish. Here is my photographic evidence of the night.

You will notice that when the flame is being extinguished, I still have my knitting on the needles. I still had a few minutes left of knitting to do.

Since we got to cast on during the beginning of the opening ceremonies, I figure I have until the end of the closing ceremonies to finish. The knitting is complete!

Is it a completed garment? No. But I did it! Here's my knitting olympics analogy: I skated a clean program but got disqualified because I forgot to wear my costume.

I so know how those athletes feel that put in a gold medal performance only to come in 4th or fall down at the last second.*

There's always the Sochi Knitting Olympics. See you in 4 years.

*please note the sarcasm.

I'm going to rename the wrap front knit dress. It is now officially my last minute dress. I made another one today for an event I'm attending tomorrow. Maybe you've heard of it? It's the Mom 2.0 Summit. They are having a Mad Men themed party and while this dress isn't truly Mad Men style, I did choose some really fun 60's vibe fabric. What do you think?

This is what my dress looked like this morning. Fabric. Just fabric. I had some issues with some puckering. In my defense, it was my first time using my serger. I'm not quite finished with it. I'm going to hem it and also finish the sleeves. In the meantime, let me show you my progress on my Olympic Knitting.

This is the back of the sweater I'm working on and I'm just over 19 inches into it. I'm on pace to finish in time but I'm going to need to work on it while I'm traveling. We'll see how that works out. I know someone will ask...the yarn is Artful Yarns Flora and I bought it at Personal Threads Boutique in Omaha almost 3 years ago. It's been knit up before and I'm hoping this time the finished project is what this yarn was destined to become.

Four years ago I knit my first lace project during the winter Olympics. I thought it would be fun to participate as part of the Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics. I was right. It was a blast. Here is what I made in two weeks.

It took a lot of sacrifice. I couldn't even take breaks to eat solid food!

But it was so worth it! Having that gold medal and being a Knitting Olympian confirmed that I'm crazy changed my life.

I'm going to do it again. I just don't know what I want to make. I won't be able to accomplish something of the same magnitude this year. But, I do want to challenge myself. I'll be looking for a pattern today. Here are things I know for sure:

1. I will knit from my stash.

2. I will knit for me.

3. It will be awesome.

Care to join me on this epic quest for knitting Olympic glory? We have from Feb 12-28 to make history!
