  • I was able to take my kids to an advanced screening of Nanny McPhee Returns this week.  My daughter, especially, loved the first one so it was nice to be able to treat them to this on their last day of summer break. The movie was cute.  It had the right amount of poop jokes, burping, bumbling villians, and animals to keep the kids happy.  It was a little long for my taste but I wish there would have been more Ewan McGregor (hubba hubba).  They've got to keep the moms happy, right?  Some ... more »
  • The Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner was my favorite new tool from the summer CHA show.  A lot of other people agreed because it won 1st prize for Innovation. It is a small and portable scanner with a lot of capabilities.  You don't need a computer to use it.  It uses an SD card to store the scanned images and then you can use that to upload to your computer, take to the photo kiosk, or put in your digital frames. I rarely scan in my old photos because my scanner is so big and clunky.  Not ... more »
  • [Hi, I’m Kelly/refibered. My "day job" is being mom to a darling 4 year old, and creative genius behind "refibered" -- sewing aprons and clothes for kids and making quilts. This past week I was Christy’s minion/assistant at the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show in Chicago, where my mission was to seek out interesting booths and report on new products. ] SEI crafts has a fun new line called “My Own Monster” --  it’s a sheet of pre-printed iron-ons with a monster theme. There... more »
  • Guess what?  I've got some of my projects in the Dinotalk Scrapbook Invitational contest.  Could you take a moment and vote for me or one of the other participants?  We are competing to win $100 gift card for us and $100 gift card for the charity of our choice.  Many of you know that my oldest son has autism.  If I win, I would donate my prize to the Autism Family Network.  It is an organization that provides support and help to families and friends of people with autism.  I can't tell ... more »
  • Are you all excited for the new season of Project Runway?  I'm a big fan of that show and thought it was really cool to see Suede from Season 5 at the show helping to promote the eCraft cutting machine. I first reported on the eCraft last summer after CHA.  It was their first showing back then and the machine looked a lot different!  What I love about Craftwell is they took advice!  The new machine has so many of the features that consumers wanted.  This one will be a true contender in... more »

  • In my quest to love veggies, I thought I would read some books about them.  I'm still not quite finished with this book but thought I'd take the time to write up some thoughts and share it here. Animal, Vegetable, Miracle is by Barbara Kingsolver.  I've read and enjoyed several of her works of fiction (like The Poisonwood Bible and The Bean Trees) so I thought this might be interesting to read how she spent a year focusing on eating local.  This book is very long but I got it as an audio d... more »
  • Today's post is brought to you by my intern, KraftyKash!   Every once in a while I con her into writing posts for me.  Enjoy!  You can find her other posts in the Intern Krafty Kash section. I enjoyed scrapbooking when my kids were younger. Both of my kids have their own scrapbook that I created. It takes a lot of time and energy to do it all just right. So when Christy asked me to try out the Digital Scrapbook Artist 2, I was up for the challenge. I'm a fan of anything that makes m... more »
  • The Klutz Glossy Bands book was something I brought home from my trip to NYC.  I thought it would be fun to make with my daughter.  The book said the project was good for ages 8 and up.  My daughter is five so I assumed that I would need to do most of the crafting and she could help me with color choices and things.  I made the first few but after she saw me make some, she was ready to go! The book comes with 4 plastic strips that you lay on top of the pages.  You move from one line to t... more »
  • This is Bubber.  It is a soft compound that never dries out, doesn't stain, and is non toxic.  You can mold it, mush it, squeeze it, etc...  I saw it at the CHA Supershow and immediately thought of my son (age 7 with autism).  We try to get him as much sensory play as we can throughout the day and I thought he'd really enjoy squishing this and playing with it.  I was wrong. While my son is indifferent to the stuff, my almost 5 year old daughter absolutely loves it and plays with it almos... more »
