Technically, I did not finish. Â Here is my photographic evidence of the night.
You will notice that when the flame is being extinguished, I still have my knitting on the needles. Â I still had a few minutes left of knitting to do.
Since we got to cast on during the beginning of the opening ceremonies, I figure I have until the end of the closing ceremonies to finish. Â The knitting is complete!
Is it a completed garment? Â No. Â But I did it! Â Here's my knitting olympics analogy: Â I sk...

Four years ago I knit my first lace project during the winter Olympics. Â I thought it would be fun to participate as part of the Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics. Â I was right. Â It was a blast. Â Here is what I made in two weeks.
It took a lot of sacrifice. Â I couldn't even take breaks to eat solid food!
But it was so worth it! Â Having that gold medal and being a Knitting Olympian confirmed that I'm crazy changed my life.
I'm going to do it again. Â I just don't know what I ...

Last month I wrote about the French Press Felted Slipper pattern that I knew I had to make. Â It is the kind of pattern that is quick enough to knit but isn't something you can just knit without thinking. Â The pattern needs to be followed and it isn't one that can be memorized easily. Â For this reason, I had to knit this project over a few nights. Â The total time spent knitting was probably just over 90 minutes. Â The seaming took another 60 minutes. Â The felting took another 30 minutes ...

I knit this really cute scarf last year. Â I started it in February and finished it in December. Â It was my "purse project". Â I kept it in my purse and worked on it whenever I was waiting somewhere. Â I used the chevron scarf pattern from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Â I used some Noro sock yarn (color 95) that I purchased on my trip to NYC in 2008. Â I used one whole skein and worked from both ends to make the color changes.
When you knit something, chances are you'll need to block it. Â But...

How's that for an attractive snapshot? Â I spent some time over the weekend felting some slippers and I had the grand idea of vlogging it for all the world to see. Â Don't you want to learn how to felt?
Here's a great video for you.
If you don't want to take the time to watch the video (just over 3 minutes), here are some highlights.
1. Â You must use 100% wool.
2. Â Hot water and agitation are key.
3. Â Use a top loading washer or by hand.
4. Â It will take a while.

Every once in a while I see a knitting pattern that I. Must. Knit. Now. Â Today I was cruising through my Google Reader and I saw the Yarn Harlot's post. Â She mentions a pattern (that is now a serious best seller---an mention on the Harlot's blog and you're good to go!) that I knew I needed to try. Â Today.

I bought the pattern (she has it on Ravelry for $.50 less) and...

I have some of the most amazing friends. Â One of my husband's former grad students (he's a professor) had a baby and I threw a shower for her over the weekend. Â Her mom is visiting her from China for several months to help with the baby. Â She knows that I love to knit and her mom does, too. Â They gifted this yarn to me the at the end of the baby shower. Â Unlike my husband (at times), they knew exactly what I wanted!
I don't read Chinese so I don't know the content. Â It's a fingering w...

This little baby hat is so darn cute! Â It is very similar to the pumpkin hat to make. Â The only difference is that you'll want to cast on twice as many stitches. Â Then, the first row you knit 2 together all the way around.
I used some leftover Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece for this project. Â The cotton isn't as forgiving as a wool or acrylic blend, but it makes for a great lightweight hat. Â The cotton fleece washes up really nicely and becomes super soft.
Are you tired of all the knit hats?...

More pumpkins! Â This time I've got a cute little pumpkin hat to show you. Â I make a couple of these every year but this year, my daughter's preschool teacher and some of the other mom's there are keeping my hands super busy with orders for 4 of these guys! Â They are super easy to knit and don't take too much time. Â I put on the tv at night and knit away.
This is your basic, run of the mill, hat pattern but at the top you add a little i-cord "stem". Â I followed the same type of pattern...

Last month a new niece was born into my family. Â She was born at 24 weeks. Â Things are looking good for Baby Zoe. Â She still has a long road ahead of her but when she's ready to leave the hospital, I want her to have a cute little jacket to wear!
I made this jacket from the pattern, Paxton (ravelry link). Â I made the 5.5lb-8lb. preemie/small newborn size. Â I used some yarn from my stash (Yarn Bee from Hobby Lobby) and knit this up over a few evenings. Â It was a relatively easy knit. Â...
